Introducing Jane Austin - The newest voice for Denison.

I AM A LONG WAY FROM TASMANIA, LIVING IN QUEENSLAND FOR IT'S SUB-TROPICAL WARMTH, SO IT HASN'T BEEN A STATE I HAVE DESIRED TO VISIT, BUT NOW THE NEW ART GALLERY IS CALLING ME AND TO EXPERIENCE ENVIRONMENTS OF ANCIENT BEAUTY.

DURING THE 1980'S I ASSOCIATE 'THE GREENS' BEING THE TASSIE TIGERS FIGHTING FOR THE ENVIRONMENT, AND PRIME MINISTER BOB HAWKE and MINISTER GRAHAM RICHARDSON IN THE ALP REALISING THE POWER OF THE GREEN VOTERS AND PREFERENCES, SO SAVING THE FRANKLIN RIVER FROM BEING DAMMED AND
DAMNED BY MOTHER EARTH.

SINCE EMIGRATING TO AUSTRALIA IN 1978 I HAVE BEEN TO EVERY STATE EXCEPT TASMANIA AND WESTERN AUSTRALIA SO AS I HAVE TURNED 50YEARS ON THIS PLANET I HAVE TO REVIEW MY BUCKET LIST.

IN THE MEAN TIME I WAS IMPRESSED BY THE LABOR CANDIDATE FOR DENISON' S CAMPAIGN VIDEO:  AN ADVOCATE ON MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES.
WE NEED PEOPLE WHO HAVE DIRECT EXPERIENCE OF THIS COMMON ASPECT OF LIFE IN PARLIAMENT. ANOTHER QUALITY WOMAN CANDIDATE.
IT MAKES ME FEEL GOOD ABOUT OUR EVOLVING SOCIAL DEMOCRACY. COME TO THE PARTY!

CLOSER TO HOME I WAS DELIGHTED TO SAY HI TO FIONA McNAMARA RAISING FUNDS TO CAMPAIGN IN THE FEDERAL SEAT OF BRISBANE - at the Barracks Cinema to see "Lincoln".

The general public don't realise the vocational nature of the individuals who seek to represent them in the Parliament, and I've seen this first-hand working to support Fiona when she was a candidate for the Federal Seat of Dickson.
Apart from their full-time jobs, (Fiona was a teacher and for a while now a lawyer with the Qld Teachers Union), the evenings and weekends are spent getting to know the various community groups and local Labor  branch members.

It's voluntary and they spend a lot of their own money building their networks and profile for pre-selection and then election. Incredible perserverence and stamina is in their DNA

I admire that, because you want dedication to the cause and even though there are despicable instances of corrupt members the majority of men and women are decent, hard working and politically passionate.

We Must Remind Ourselves our gains can be taken away and our needs and ideas ignored if we don't Vote(and Unionise).

Via Anne Summers on facebook I add this article about Prime Minister Gillard's leadership speculation:
